The Mimic. The Dreaded Mimic. These are the monsters that have haunted many fans over the years, whether it was the promise of false treasures or just a way for the dungeon master to troll his fellow players, the Mimic is nothing short of iconic. Just like the many monsters that are throughout , there can be many forms of fan art that can be littered all throughout the series and the Mimic is no exception to this. Due to the tabletop nature of the game, many fans were offered a lot of freedom to how they look in their art pieces.

A Mimic In The Forest
First off on this list is the great digital art created by ruslana-volichenko. This beautifully rendered digital art design has this incredible warmth to them. Which is pretty funny considering how Mimics are hypothetically super dangerous and kind of disturbing to think about.

Nonetheless, the cuter aesthetic of the Mimic does compliment the colors very well. But that shouldn't detract from the amount of detail that's all over the piece as the tongue has some of the most disgustingly marvellous detail out there.
A Mimic Switch
The cool thing about is the amount of creativity that players are able to have. Whenever a world is created within some can be set within a fantasy world while others can be within a more modern one. This is a good example of this. Created by Javier Valdez, they created an absolutely terrifying Mimic that became a Switch. Imagining playing that in real life, that would be quite the endeavour indeed.
Deep Within A Dungeon
This simple piece is absolutely marvellous. Created by robSHEPart, what is great about this Mimic is the amount of detail behind it. It seems to be inked with the digital colors coming afterwards, which allows it to have more of a comic book aesthetic behind it. The color choice here is also quite fantastic as it has this more greyed out and almost gritty look. Which allows it to look sinister and have the tone of actually being within a dungeon.
Merry Christmas Traveller
This is another fun one, but one that everyone just has to see. As many know, Christmas is the jolliest time of the year. With many people getting the best gifts from their loved ones, whether it's a toy for their child or just a brand new sweater. So what better to have for Christmas than to ruin it with a Mimic present. This fun idea was conceptualized by Travis Hanson which is nothing short of hilarious.
A Friendly Mimic
Another fun one but this time created by Blazbaros. Sometimes in a game, things can change from what the Dungeon master had in mind. This is one of those fun occurrences where instead of killing the party, they fed the Mimic snacks instead. Becoming an ally to the team and being called Chester, in a sense changing its alignment. Not only is this adorable but it just once again highlights some of the creativity that gets put into these games.
Digital Perfection For A Mimic
Another digital creation created by Julia Z, what is really nice about this piece is how intricate it all is. For starters compared to the rest on this list, the chest has details like magical vents on the right and left sides. This obviously implies that there is more to the chest than it initially appears. Another cool touch is the gold chains that seen to be attached to the tongue itself. A personal touch as it makes it like as if the chest has piercings. Props for style.
Cthulu-Esque
Created by Arthur Gimaldinov, this mimic has something Cthulu-like in its design. Although all of them have it to a degree, there is just something about the green eyeballs and the emptiness of the box that makes it all the more terrifying. Of course, the thing that just has to be brought up is the color choices of the piece, with the aforementioned green being taken to the forefront. It's sickly colors only increase the intensity of what a Mimic can sometimes provide.
Kawaii Nightmares
Another cute one created by Chelsea Yolalan, it clearly had some inspiration from cartoons or Japanese anime judging from the eyes. The simplicity of the general design really goes well with the color palette as it makes it very easy to see. Everything is very complimentary with nothing too drastic in the design to make it not a mimic. Nonetheless, one of the best things is definitely the eyes since it really does make it one of a kind compared to the rest.

A fun piece created by Asul Dev, compared to the other fan arts done by other creators this isn't done in any form of physical media. Let alone digitally painted, but rather it is done by using pixel art which is notable for a good reason.

This allows the things that come out to look like something out of the SNES or other consoles back in the 90s. Or within indie games that have become insanely popular. Nonetheless, it is incredibly simple but deeply effective.
Something Deep Within The Bowels Of Hell
Last but certainly not least is the Mimic created byTeanamora. Absolutely riveting in how disgusting it looks, it seems like the artist truly went all the way to show how disgusting the Mimic can really be just from the aesthetics alone.
